One Dead, One Injured in Early-Morning Trailer Fire in Klamath Falls

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (Feb. 11, 2026) — One person was killed and another injured early Tuesday after a trailer fire in the 3700 block of Laverne Avenue, according to Klamath County Fire District 1.

Firefighters were dispatched around 2:38 a.m. after multiple 911 callers reported a trailer fully involved, with flames visible from the windows. The first arriving engine company found fire extending from several windows and through the roof of the single-wide trailer and launched an aggressive attack, stopping the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.

One adult occupant escaped through an emergency egress window at the rear of the trailer after being unable to reach the main exit, which had become engulfed in flames. The individual suffered smoke inhalation and burn injuries and was transported by Klamath County Fire District 1 personnel to Sky Lakes Medical Center for treatment.

Based on information provided by the injured occupant, firefighters conducted a targeted search and located a deceased individual inside the residence.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Klamath County Fire District 1 in coordination with the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office.

In a statement, fire officials said the incident underscores the importance of fire safety, including ensuring working smoke alarms in sleeping areas, keeping exits clear, identifying secondary escape routes such as emergency egress windows, and practicing a home fire escape plan.

“Early detection and having multiple escape options can significantly increase survivability in a residential fire,” the district said.

Klamath County Fire District 1 extended condolences to those affected by the incident.
