ASHLAND, Ore. (Dec. 31, 2025) — Mt. Ashland Ski Area will pause ski operations indefinitely starting Jan. 1, 2026, citing forecasted rain and an insufficient snowpack, mountain officials announced.
The southern Oregon ski area said it will reassess conditions after an incoming storm and provide an update in the coming days. The pause comes after a brief period of early-season activity that officials said was buoyed by strong community support despite challenging winter conditions.
“All lift tickets, rentals and lessons purchased for upcoming days will be refunded,” the ski area said, adding that customers should monitor their email for refund notifications.
Families involved in the School & Youth Group Learn-to-Ski Program will also be affected. Mt. Ashland said its School Group Program Coordinator will contact volunteer coordinators if scheduled program dates need to be adjusted.
Officials thanked the mountain community for its patience and enthusiasm, acknowledging that the winter season has not started as hoped. They encouraged supporters to stay optimistic as weather conditions evolve, expressing hope for improved snowfall later in the season.
Mt. Ashland did not provide a timeline for resuming operations but said it will share additional information after evaluating the impacts of the next storm system.
