JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. (Dec. 22, 2025) — An 82-year-old California man was killed late Friday in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 5 in Josephine County, Oregon State Police said.
Troopers responded to the crash at about 11:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, near milepost 70. A preliminary investigation found that a red GMC Jimmy, driven by Jimmy Warren Stanley of Dunsmuir, California, was traveling northbound when it veered off the roadway for an unknown reason and onto the gravel shoulder.
The vehicle rolled over, ejecting the driver. Stanley was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The crash did not impact traffic on I-5 during the on-scene investigation.
Oregon State Police were assisted by Rural Metro Fire, American Medical Response ambulance service, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The investigation was handled by the Oregon State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, a specialized team that examines fatal and critical-injury crashes on Oregon highways using advanced documentation and analysis techniques.
