Crash Knocks Out Power, Impacts Delta Waters Road in NE Medford

Medford, Oregon- A vehicle crash into a power pole Monday evening closed Delta Waters Road and left portions of northeast Medford without power, authorities said.

Emergency crews responded around 6:50 p.m. after a vehicle struck a utility pole along Delta Waters Road between Springbrook Road and Foothill Road. The driver sustained minor injuries, according to initial reports.

The crash caused extensive damage to the pole and downed power lines, prompting Pacific Power to dispatch crews to assess and repair the damage. The utility company said full restoration of service is expected by about 7:00a Tuesday. Approximately 2000 customers were impacted by the outage.

Medford police advised drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes. Delta Waters Road remains closed while repairs are underway, and officials warned that outages may continue into the evening.

This outage is also impacting a number of businesses in the Delta Center, including Buffalo Wild Wings and Texas Roadhouse. Most of the businesses in the shopping center have closed for the evening, as a result of the outage.

Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

UPDATE: As of 11:50p, service has been restored to all but 37 impacted customers. Delta Waters has also been reopened to traffic.
