
Central Point, Oregon- Fire crews are responding Tuesday afternoon to a grass fire burning near the intersection of Lane Creek and Old Stage roads between Central Point and Gold Hill.
The Oregon Department of Forestry said the blaze is estimated at about one acre. Fire District 3 crews are assisting in what officials described as an aggressive initial attack.
In addition to ground resources, two helicopters and an air attack platform have been ordered to the scene. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area to allow firefighters safe access.
Officials say additional information will be released as it becomes available.

ODF Update:
Firefighters have knocked down all active fire, and are working on mop-up operations. The cause is currently under investigation.
Firefighters will remain working in the area until the entire fire is extinguished.
Roadblocks are currently in place at this intersection while firefighter work along the roadway, please avoid the area for the time being.
