Dog-of-the-Week: “Luna” Featured in Weeklong Adoption Promotion

Phoenix, Oregon- A gentle, intelligent and affectionate 2-year-old dog named Luna is the featured Medford Alert, Dog-of-the-Week at the Jackson County Animal Shelter. Her adoption fee has been waived as part of a special promotion.

Luna, a petite black-and-white Border Collie and Pit Bull mix, has been in the shelter’s care for more than 75 days. Described as shy at first but quick to warm up with patience and treats, she is known for her eagerness to please and ability to follow basic commands such as “sit” and “lie down.” Shelter staff say her sharp focus and Collie heritage make her a strong candidate for continued training.

An active and engaged home familiar with herding breeds is considered ideal, with daily exercise, puzzle toys, agility activities and routine tasks recommended to keep her mind stimulated. Luna has thrived in dog playgroups with both large and small companions and is open to meeting other dogs before adoption. Her compatibility with cats is unknown.

Luna’s adoption fee is waived through Sunday, Aug. 17, for Jackson County residents, though licensing fees still apply. The shelter is also offering waived fees for all dogs in its care for 75 days or longer and half-off adoption fees for dogs in the shelter less than 75 days.

In a newly added bullet-point profile, staff list Luna’s high energy level, leash manners, gentle treat-taking, and affectionate personality among her standout traits. She is playful, cuddly, enjoys human companionship, and would do well with older, dog-savvy children.

Shelter staff hope Luna will soon find an adopter ready to bring her along for outdoor adventures and a lifelong bond.

Adoption means embarking on a shared adventure filled with learning, unforgettable experiences, and the warm companionship of these lively dogs. The shelter encourages individuals interested in meeting and potentially adopting these lovable animals to reach out. Contact the shelter at 541-774-6654, press 5 for adoptions, and start the process of welcoming these sweethearts into your loving home.
