Two Adults, Three Children Dead in Josephine County Shooting

Josephine County, Oregon- Oregon State Police are leading an investigation into a suspected murder-suicide that left five people dead in the Picket Creek area of Josephine County on Monday.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of Hussey Lane around 9:37 a.m. Aug. 11 after receiving a welfare check request. Authorities said an adult female living at the residence had not shown up for work that morning, which was considered unusual.

Upon arrival, deputies and Oregon State Police officers noted suspicious conditions outside the home and entered to check on the occupants. Inside, they found five people dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victims were identified as Hannah Marie Behee, 42; a male juvenile, 11; a male juvenile, 9; and a female juvenile, 7. Investigators believe the suspected shooter, identified as Chad Scott Behee, 40, also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office requested Oregon State Police take over the investigation with assistance from the Grants Pass Police Department.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone with information to call Oregon State Police at 1-800-442-0776, referencing case number SP25-366471.
