Search Underway for Missing Medford Rafter on Rogue River

Near Eagle Point, Oregon- The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 27-year-old Medford man last seen floating the Rogue River on Sunday afternoon near Eagle Point.

Deputies and Search and Rescue teams say Justice Gregory Hamilton was spotted upriver from Dodge Bridge around 4 p.m. Aug. 10. He had been riding an inner tube with companions when he got out on an island, and the others continued downstream. Authorities believe Hamilton may have later joined other people floating the river.

Hamilton was wearing multicolored shorts and an orange life jacket. He is described as 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, with brown hair and fair skin. While a provided photo shows him with a beard, officials say he is now clean-shaven.

Anyone with information on Hamilton’s whereabouts is asked to call the Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon non-emergency line at 541-776-7206 and reference case 25-4251.

Missing Rogue River Rafter Located Safe by Fire District 4

The missing rafter was located safe by Fire District 4 personnel this afternoon. He is recovering at home after spending the night outdoors. Thank you to all who participated in the search.

No additional information was provided by officials at this time.
