Teen Drowns After Falling from Cliff at Swimming Hole Near Ashland

Ashland, Oregon- A 19-year-old man drowned Thursday evening after reportedly falling from a cliff into a rock quarry reservoir near Ashland, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene around 7:19 p.m. along the 500 block of Keno Access Road, near Dead Indian Memorial Road, following reports of a possible drowning. Authorities said the young man fell from a cliff at the edge of the swimming hole and disappeared into the deep water.

Search and Rescue teams with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office recovered the victim’s body, and Medical Examiner detectives responded to investigate. Officials said there were no suspicious circumstances observed at the scene.

The victim’s name has not been released out of respect for the family’s privacy. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that next-of-kin have been notified.
