First-Ever “Chalk About Medford” Event to Kick Off Summer

Chalk About Medford

Medford, Oregon- Medford’s Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department is inviting residents to tap into their creativity at the inaugural Chalk About Medford Summer Kick-Off on June 14 at Rogue X.

The all-day event, running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature a sidewalk chalk art competition where participants will receive a 4-by-5-foot square and chalk to showcase their talents. Judging will begin immediately after the competition, with prizes awarded in both youth and adult divisions for Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice.

Registration is $15 for participants ages 13 and up, and $10 for those under 13. The event is open to all skill levels, and space can be reserved in advance.

Following the chalk competition, the celebration continues with live music, food—free for the first 200 attendees—and a screening of Despicable Me 4 at dusk. The movie night is part of the city’s annual Movies in the Park series and is free to the public.

The department hopes the event will mark the beginning of a new summer tradition, blending art, community, and family fun.
