
Cave Junction, Oregon- A fatal crash has closed Oregon Route 199 near milepost 28, just outside Cave Junction, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Officials said the closure is expected to cause extended delays in the area. Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes while crews work to clear the scene and restore traffic flow.
No additional details about the crash were immediately available. Authorities have not provided an estimated time for reopening the highway.

12:00pm Update: Emergency crews responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Redwood Highway and Waldamar Road in Cave Junction earlier this morning. The incident, logged at 10:45 a.m, drew a multi-agency response, including the Illinois Valley Fire District, AMR-Josephine County, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, and Oregon State Police (OSP).
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Fire crews performed an extrication to assist OSP with its on-site investigation.
