Coquille, Oregon- In the early morning hours of May 9, 2025, a devastating fire engulfed the home and shop of Jessica and Rocky Jones in Coquille, Oregon, leaving the family with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
The blaze, which started in their shop, quickly spread to their residence, resulting in a total loss. Jessica, a dedicated nursing student set to graduate next month, and Rocky, the family’s sole provider, managed to escape the inferno with their three daughters, aged 10, 8, and 2. While their three dogs and some goats were accounted for, their chickens tragically did not survive.
“We lost everything in the fire—our home, our memories, the place where we raised our girls for the past ten years,” Jessica Jones told Medford Alert. “But I woke up that night, and I got my husband and our three daughters out safely. For that, I feel beyond blessed.”
The fire caused extensive smoke and water damage, rendering the house and its contents hazardous. “Flames took the ceiling and went through all the vents; the house is now a waterfall,” said family friend Tawnee Chartier, who organized a GoFundMe campaign to assist the family. “The entire house is considered a loss at this point.”
Without homeowners insurance and relying solely on Rocky’s income, the Jones family faces the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch. The community has rallied around them, offering prayers, donations, and support.
“It’s incredibly difficult to ask for help, but this family not only needs it—they truly deserve it,” Chartier emphasized. “Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in helping them rebuild their lives.”
The family has expressed profound gratitude for the outpouring of support. “Even in the middle of all this, the love and support from family, friends, and our community has been overwhelming,” Jessica said. “We may have lost everything, but we still have each other—and that makes us feel truly blessed.”
