Multi-City Police Pursuit Ends After Suspect Crashes Stolen Car in Ashland

Ashland, Oregon- A 47-year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon after allegedly stealing a vehicle during a domestic disturbance and leading police on a high-speed pursuit through multiple cities in southern Oregon, authorities said.

The incident began around 3:50 p.m. when Medford Police Department officers responded to a reported disturbance at Jackson County Community Justice on West Main Street. Investigators said Alfred W. Mabrier allegedly stole a black Honda Accord from a female acquaintance following the altercation and fled the area, causing multiple hit-and-run collisions.

A Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy located the stolen vehicle traveling southbound on South Pacific Highway in South Medford and attempted a traffic stop. Mabrier reportedly refused to pull over and instead led deputies on a high-speed chase through South Medford, Phoenix, and Talent before entering Ashland.

Deputies terminated the pursuit after Mabrier rear-ended another vehicle in Ashland and continued to flee. The chase came to an end when Mabrier crashed at the intersection of Main and Maple streets. He attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by JCSO deputies and Ashland Police officers.

Mabrier was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation and was later cleared for custody.

He faces multiple charges from both the Medford Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities commended the coordinated response from multiple agencies in safely apprehending Mabrier. The investigation remains ongoing.
