Near Lost Creek Lake, Oregon- The Oregon Department of Forestry’s (ODF) Southwest Oregon District has contained the Flat Creek Fire, which ignited northwest of Lost Creek Lake early Friday morning. The wildfire, mapped at six acres, is currently under investigation to determine its cause.
Firefighters extinguished all active flames by Friday evening. A 20-person crew, along with additional resources, continues to secure the perimeter and address remaining hotspots.
Despite cooler and wetter conditions, the incident underscores the potential for wildfires outside the designated fire season. ODF officials remind the public that warm or windy weather can facilitate fire spread, even during spring.
Residents planning outdoor burning activities, including debris burns, burn barrels, or campfires, are advised to exercise caution. Recommended safety measures include keeping water and a shovel nearby and never leaving fires unattended.
