Strong Winds Knock Out Power to Nearly 2,200 in Rogue Valley

Medford, Oregon- Numerous power outages around southern Oregon have been reported and have resulted in several traffic signals failures, prompting authorities to advise caution and patience from motorists.

With signals rendered dark, drivers are reminded to treat intersections as four-way stops until power is restored.

The outage, affecting approximately 2,200 customers as of 7:30p has led to potential traffic delays in the affected regions. The outages were first reported shortly after a series of strong storms brought wind gusts of over 30 mph to central Jackson County.

Authorities urge residents to exercise caution and adhere to traffic safety guidelines until normal operations resume.

Pacific Power have several crews on scene working the outages. Estimated time for full service restoration varies depending on the area, however, several of the larger clustered outages are expected to be restored around midnight.
