Dog-of-the-Week: Christian the Border Collie Mix is Seeking a Forever Home

Jackson County Animal Service

Phoenix, Oregon- Meet Christian, a 1-year, 8-month-old Border Collie mix, and this week’s Medford Alert Dog-of-the-Week. Christian has been in the shelter for over 260 days and is ready to find his permanent home.

Christian is known for his intelligence, focus, and athleticism. He enjoys exploring with his handlers and shows a strong interest in training, especially when rewarded with treats. Christian already knows basic commands like “sit” and is eager to continue learning with the right guidance.

Christian participates in the shelter’s Doggie Play Groups, where he has made positive connections with other dogs. While his compatibility with cats is still being evaluated, potential adopters are encouraged to arrange meet-and-greets with any dogs currently in the household to ensure a good fit.

After spending over 260 days in the shelter, Christian is growing restless and would benefit from a stable home environment where he can engage in physical activity and mental stimulation. His adoption fee has been waived due to his extended stay, although licensing fees for Jackson County residents still apply.

To further support adoptions, Jackson County Animal Services is offering a spring adoption promotion from Tuesday, March 25, through Sunday, March 30. All regular-priced adoption fees are reduced by 50%. Dogs that have been in the shelter for 75 to 99 days will have adoption fees lowered to $75. Dogs in care for over 100 days, including Christian, will have their adoption fees waived.

Christian is ready to bring loyalty and energy to his new family. For more information or to schedule a visit, contact Jackson County Animal Services.

Adoption means embarking on a shared adventure filled with learning, unforgettable experiences, and the warm companionship of these lively dogs. The shelter encourages individuals interested in meeting and potentially adopting these lovable animals to reach out. Contact the shelter at 541-774-6654, press 5 for adoptions, and start the process of welcoming these sweethearts into your loving home.
