Medford, Oregon- Progress continues on the Foothill Road Improvement Project as Knife River begins paving Stage 3 of the roadway between Normil Terrace and Cedar Links Drive. This marks a significant development in the multi-phase project aimed at upgrading a critical transportation corridor in the eastside region.
Foothill Road remains closed to through traffic at McAndrews Road and Cedar Links Drive. Access to the newly paved section is limited to Normil Terrace residents entering from McAndrews Road.
In addition to paving efforts, construction crews are installing a 24-inch waterline as part of Stage 4 improvements. This water main will enhance the area’s utility infrastructure, running along Foothill Road south of Viewpoint Drive and connecting to Cedar Links Drive. Flaggers are managing traffic near the work site, with motorists advised to anticipate delays of up to 20 minutes near the Cedar Links Drive and Foothill Road intersection.
The current construction schedule anticipates reopening the section of Foothill Road between McAndrews and Cedar Links Drive by mid-February 2025. However, work timelines remain subject to weather and other factors.
Upon project completion in late 2026, Foothill Road will feature significant enhancements, including:
• Two lanes in each direction
• Turn lanes
• Sidewalks
• Bike lanes
• Street lighting
Local officials and contractors expressed appreciation for the community’s patience. “We understand the disruptions caused by this project, and we are grateful for the support and understanding of residents as we work to improve this important roadway for Medford,” a project spokesperson stated.
