Medford, Oregon- On Thursday, January 16, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the Medford Police Department responded to reports of a road rage incident in the 2100 block of Crater Lake Avenue. According to victims, a man had threatened them with a handgun before leaving the scene. Officers gathered detailed statements and initiated a search for the suspect.
About 30 minutes later, the victims contacted police again to report that the same individual had returned. Following a verbal exchange, the suspect reportedly fired a gun from his vehicle as he fled the scene. The victims provided officers with a description of the suspect’s vehicle and a photo of the license plate. No injuries were reported.
The investigation led officers to identify the suspect as Brandon Blackwell, 34, of Medford. Police confirmed that Blackwell is a convicted felon.
On the morning of Friday, January 17, at around 10 a.m., officers located Blackwell at a property on Gilman Road in Medford. Police surrounded the location and made announcements, prompting Blackwell to exit the building. He was taken into custody without further incident.
The firearm believed to have been used in the incident was recovered and seized. Blackwell was booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
The case, identified as MPD 25-905, will be prosecuted by the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
