Residential Structure Fire in Klamath Falls Claims One Life

Klamath Falls, Oregon- A residential structure fire in Klamath County claimed the life of one person early this morning. Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) responded to the incident after a 911 call from a passerby who noticed smoke and flames coming from the residence on the 2200 block of Applegate Avenue.

The fire was reported at approximately 3:30 a.m. by a good Samaritan who attempted to enter the burning home to assist any potential occupants. However, he was forced back by intense heat and smoke. Firefighters arrived shortly afterward to find heavy smoke and flames pouring from the windows of the house.

Fire crews quickly made entry and were able to extinguish the fire. During their search of the residence, they discovered a victim in one of the rooms, who had succumbed to injuries sustained from the heat and smoke. The identity of the victim has not been released, though family members have been notified.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by KCFD1, the Klamath Falls Police Department, and the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office.
