Oregon Marine Board to Hold Medford Public Session on Rogue River Boat Operations

Medford, Oregon- The Oregon State Marine Board will hold a public work session on October 2, 2024, starting at 8:30 a.m. The session will take place at Rogue Community College’s Medford Campus, in rooms HEC 129 A/B. The Board will address boat operations on the Upper Rogue River, covering the stretch from the former Gold Ray Dam site to Lost Creek Reservoir.

This meeting follows a directive from the Marine Board’s July 2024 session, where the Board requested staff to arrange a public forum on this matter. The session will focus on the regulation and management of both motorized and nonmotorized boat operations in the Upper Rogue River.

The work session will feature invited presentations and testimony, with an open public comment period to follow. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and share their views regarding the river’s boat operations. The public comment session will continue until the last speaker finishes or until 4:00 p.m., whichever comes first.

Individuals wishing to provide oral testimony online must register with Jennifer Cooper by 5:00 p.m. on September 27, 2024. Written comments will also be accepted until October 16, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Comments can be submitted via email to jennifer.cooper@boat.oregon.gov or mailed to the Oregon State Marine Board at 435 Commercial St NE Ste 400, Salem, OR 97301, attention Jennifer Cooper.
