Single Vehicle Crash on Highway 62 Kills Driver

Klamath County, Oregon- On Saturday, July 13, 2024, at approximately 7:22 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on Highway 62 at the intersection with Sun Mountain Road (MP 91) in Klamath County.

Preliminary investigations reveal that a Ford Expedition, driven by Tina Marie Wickliffe, 53, of Chiloquin, was traveling southbound on Sun Mountain Road at a high rate of speed. Wickliffe was unable to stop at the intersection with Highway 62, causing the vehicle to travel through the intersection and collide with the embankment on the opposite side of the highway.

Wickliffe, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was declared deceased at the scene. The crash led to the highway being impacted for approximately an hour as authorities conducted their on-scene investigation.

Speed is believed to be the primary cause of the crash. Oregon State Police were assisted by Chiloquin Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) in responding to the incident.

The accident serves as a reminder of the critical importance of adhering to speed limits and wearing seatbelts to ensure road safety. Further investigations are ongoing.
