Medford, Oregon– Due to high temperatures forecasted, Medford City Manager Brian Sjothun has issued a severe weather event declaration effective from Thursday, July 4, through Sunday, July 7.
In response, the City of Medford is partnering with ACCESS to open and operate a cooling shelter. The shelter will provide water, restrooms, snacks, a cooling area, and water for pets. Individuals are welcome to come and go as needed.
The City has also implemented a text notification system for citizens who wish to receive updates on the opening of warming or cooling shelters. To receive these notifications, text MED4SHELTERS to 888777.
ACCESS is seeking volunteers to assist with the cooling shelter operations. Those interested in volunteering or contributing resources can email volunteer@accesshelps.org for more information.
