Firefighters Contain Grassfire Near Cave Junction

Near Cave Junction, Oregon– At 7:00 PM, firefighters successfully contained a grassfire along the 27000-block of Highway 199, just south of Cave Junction. Covering slightly over a quarter-acre, the fire is now fully lined and 85% mopped up.

Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) firefighters remain on the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire. This marks the final update unless there are significant changes in the conditions of the incident.

ODF, in collaboration with the Illinois Valley Fire District, originally responded to the reported grassfire, which was first estimated to span an acre. Travelers in the vicinity are advised to exercise caution and be aware of firefighters working in the area tonight.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
