Police Arrest Suspect Following Northeast Medford Shooting

Medford, Oregon– Yesterday, the Medford Police Department apprehended Elijia Zeigler, 20, in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Monday night in northeast Medford. The altercation leading to the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Zeigler and the victim, which originated at a party in Ashland over the weekend. During this dispute, Zeigler allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim.

The shooting occurred on Monday night around 1900 block of Gene Cameron Way, where Zeigler fired two shots at the victim’s vehicle as it passed by. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though both rounds struck the victim’s vehicle. Patrol Officers, responding quickly, recovered shell casings from a handgun at the scene, prompting the dispatch of a Medford Police Detective to lead the investigation.

Following an interview on Tuesday, Zeigler was arrested and lodged at the Jackson County Jail. Zeigler faces charges of attempted murder, attempted assault in the first degree, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, and reckless endangering.

The Medford Police Department reassures the community that there is no further threat to public safety related to this incident. They encourage the public to report any suspicious or criminal activities promptly to law enforcement.
