South Medford High School Hosts Benefit Basketball Game

Medford, Oregon– Students and staff at South Medford High School are gearing up for an evening of spirited competition and charitable giving as they prepare for the annual benefit basketball game on Tuesday, March 19th at 6:30 pm in the main gym.

In a unique twist, this year’s event will feature not only a showdown on the basketball court between students and staff but also a battle of cheers in the stands. With the goal of raising funds for South’s Sparrow, Jared, and his family, attendees can expect an exciting atmosphere both on and off the court.

Entry to the game is priced at $2 per person, or alternatively, attendees can contribute 2 cans of food. The public is invited to attend and show their support for this worthy cause.

Adding to the excitement of the evening, Cartoonz World, situated in the Rogue Valley Mall, has donated a pair of Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High shoes, which will be raffled off during halftime. Additionally, a pair of South prom tickets will be up for grabs in a separate raffle, with tickets available for purchase at the door for just $2 each.

The event is being spearheaded by South Medford High School’s Key Club, a community service organization, in collaboration with South Student Leadership. The beneficiary, Sparrow Clubs, is known for its mission of empowering children to support their peers in medical need through acts of compassion, kindness, and community service. Southern Oregon schools have been proud sponsors of Sparrows since 2001, making a tangible difference in the lives of countless families.

Last year’s game saw a nail-biting finish, with South’s student team clinching victory by just one point. This year, anticipation is high as both students and staff prepare to face off once again, with the added challenge of the staff cheering section vying to outdo their student counterparts.
