Riddle, Oregon- In an incident on Friday, February 16, 2024, in Riddle, Oregon, three men from Roseburg were arrested after a violent altercation involving burglary, kidnapping, and assault.
Around 10:00 a.m., 9-1-1 dispatchers received reports of a physical altercation in the 200-block of Maple Street. Witnesses described three men assaulting another individual, using zip-ties to restrain him.
Deputies quickly arrived and determined that 25-year-old Justin Daniel Devlaeminck, 53-year-old Daniel Terrance Devlaeminck, and 26-year-old Austin Lee Lyman had forcibly entered a residence, intending to “evict” a 22-year-old victim. Justin Devlaeminck wielded a firearm, while Daniel Devlaeminck broke a window to gain entry. The trio then assaulted the victim, who attempted to flee but was restrained.
The victim briefly escaped but was recaptured outside, where the assault continued, ending with the use of zip-ties to immobilize him. The victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Assisted by multiple agencies including the Myrtle Creek Police Department, Umpqua Valley Ambulance, and Riddle Fire Department, all three suspects were apprehended and detained at the Douglas County Jail.
The charges against them include burglary, kidnapping, and assault, reflecting the severity of their actions:
- Daniel Devlaeminck: Burglary I, Kidnapping I, Assault IV, Criminal Mischief II
- Justin Devlaeminck: Burglary I, Kidnapping I, Assault IV, Menacing, Pointing a Firearm at Another
- Austin Lyman: Burglary I, Kidnapping I, Assault IV
