Southern Oregon Woman Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle While Walking

Roseburg, Oregon– Authorities announced that, 39-year-old Cody Ann Jackson of Roseburg, lost her life after being struck by a vehicle in Winchester. The incident occurred on Thursday, December 7, 2023, just before 4:30 a.m., prompting a large response from emergency services.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call reporting a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision on NE Stephens Street near Strauss Avenue. Deputies rushed to the scene and discovered Jackson, who had sustained fatal injuries, lying in the roadway.

The involved vehicle, a northbound 2007 Honda Pilot, was operated by 44-year-old Adam Mohlsick, also from Roseburg. According to initial findings, Jackson was walking in the northbound lane when the incident unfolded. Mohlsick, identified as the driver, cooperated fully with deputies during the investigation.

Despite the collaborative efforts of emergency responders, Jackson succumbed to her injuries. The incident remains under investigation, and while the circumstances are being thoroughly examined, criminal charges are not anticipated at this time.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation, with support from Douglas County Fire District #2 and the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office.
