One Dead and One Injured After Charles Point Shooting in South Medford

In the early hours of Sunday, December 3rd, the Medford Police Department responded to a call reporting a disturbance with shots fired at the Charles Point apartment complex on Highgate Street in South Medford.

Upon their arrival at approximately 5:40 AM, officers discovered two individuals in the parking lot adjacent to an apartment, both sustaining gunshot wounds. Immediate medical assistance was provided by officers, and both victims were transported to a Medford area trauma center for treatment.

One of the victims succumbed to their injuries, while the other remains in a critical condition. The authorities, respecting the privacy and sensitivity of the situation, have refrained from disclosing the names or specific details of the victims at this time.

The Medford Police Department (MPD), in collaboration with other assisting agencies, are actively engaged in the investigation at the Charles Point apartment complex. The focus is on determining the circumstances surrounding this incident.

MPD units were originally searching for a blue sedan and dark colored SUV that witnesses said fled onto South Pacific Highway. There is no additional suspect information. At this time, there is not believed to be any community threat.

As the investigation progresses, the Medford Police Department assures the public that additional information will be released in a timely manner. The community is urged to cooperate with law enforcement and report any relevant information that may aid in the resolution of this case.
