Armed Disturbance Leads to Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting Near Salem

At approximately 11:00 a.m. on November 24, 2023, law enforcement authorities responded to a disturbance call in the vicinity in Four Corners in Marion County. The report indicated a male subject allegedly armed and discharging firearm rounds.

Personnel from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Salem Police Department, and the Oregon State Police responded to the scene. The suspect was located, and during the encounter, shots were fired by officers. Officials report the suspect sustained injuries, prompting immediate medical assistance. Despite these efforts, the individual was declared deceased at the scene.

No law enforcement officers were harmed during the incident. Pursuant to Senate Bill 111 protocols, the Keizer Police Department and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office will spearhead the investigation, working in collaboration with the Marion County District Attorney’s Office.

Officials state the community is in no outstanding danger, and a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
