Rogue Community College’s Dental Hygiene Program Pursues Accreditation

Rogue Community College (RCC) is taking significant steps towards accreditation for its Dental Hygiene program. The college is seeking recognition from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), a reputable accrediting body acknowledged by the United States Department of Education.

Program directors say RCC’s Dental Hygiene program demonstrates great potential in meeting the Accreditation Standards for Dental Hygiene Education Programs set by CODA. To assess this, a site visit has been scheduled for Jan. 24-25, 2024. During this process, the public and interested parties are encouraged to contribute by submitting written comments specifically related to the Accreditation Standards for Dental Hygiene Education Programs or the policies and procedures employed in the Commission’s accreditation process.

Comments, whether signed or unsigned, will be taken into consideration. Signatures will be removed from the comments before they are shared with the program. Individuals wishing to submit third-party comments can seek guidance by reaching out to the Commission office. These third-party comments should be sent via email to the appropriate Commission staff and not through the US Postal Service.

The Commission has established Accreditation Standards for Dental Hygiene Education Programs, offering essential guidelines to program administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure the quality and effectiveness of educational programs. These standards encompass various aspects such as institutional effectiveness, the educational program itself, administration, faculty, staff, institutional support services, health and safety provisions, and patient care services.

To obtain a copy of the dental hygiene accreditation standards or the Commission’s policy on third-party comments, you can contact the Commission at 211 East Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611, or call 1-800-621-8099, extension 4653. Third-party comments must be received by the Commission no later than Nov. 23, 2023.
