Early this morning, one man has lost his life, while two others sustained injuries in a shooting that occurred in the heart of Portland’s Old Town Neighborhood.
At approximately 12:47 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, Central Precinct Entertainment Detail Officers were conducting routine patrols in Old Town when they were alerted by the sound of gunshots echoing near Northwest 4th Avenue and Northwest Everett Street. Officers discovered an adult male victim who had been critically injured. Despite their immediate call for emergency medical services, the victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
Additional Portland Officers were dispatched to assist with the ongoing investigation. At this early stage, authorities have been unable to immediately locate a suspect linked to the shooting.
Shortly after the initial response, law enforcement received reports that two additional adult male victims had sought treatment at separate hospitals, arriving by private vehicle. Authorities say their injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.
The severity of the incident prompted the Portland Police Homicide Unit Detectives to respond to the scene, alongside the Forensic Evidence Division, the Medical Examiner, and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office. The Focused Intervention Team officers have also joined forces in the investigative efforts.
Further details and updates on this incident will be provided as they become available.
