Oregon Officer Hit by Vehicle During Stolen Car Investigation

Detectives are currently investigating an incident where an officer was struck by a vehicle during the course of their duties. The incident unfolded at approximately 2:00 p.m. today in Gresham, following a routine welfare check call.

Concerned bystanders had reported two individuals who appeared unresponsive and passed out inside a vehicle parked in the area. In response, officers arrived at the scene to assess the situation. However, what initially seemed like a welfare check took an unexpected turn.

Upon closer inspection, officers discovered that the vehicle in question had been reported stolen. As they attempted to make contact with the individuals inside the vehicle, the driver suddenly made a desperate attempt to flee, resulting in a collision with one of the officers.

The driver continued their efforts to evade authorities, both in the stolen vehicle and on them later on foot. However, law enforcement’s response led to the apprehension of both the suspect and the passenger in the stolen vehicle.

The injured officer was transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Thankfully, the injuries sustained by the officer are reported to be non-life threatening.

The suspect, who suffered a minor injury while attempting to flee on foot, was also transported to an area hospital for treatment. Both individuals are now in custody and are expected to face a number if charges as the investigation continues.

Detectives are currently investigating this incident to uncover all the details surrounding the stolen vehicle and the circumstances leading up to the officer’s injury. No additional information was released by officials at this time.
