Rogue Credit Union Donates Historic $3 Million to Asante

In a display of community spirit and commitment to the well-being of children and families in our region, Rogue Credit Union has made an extraordinary investment. For three decades, Rogue Credit Union has stood as a community partner to the Asante Children’s Miracle Network. Today, they have etched their name in history by making the largest corporate donation ever received by Asante. This generous gift is earmarked to benefit the Olsrud Family Women’s and Children’s Hospital at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, set to open its doors in early 2024. As the lead donor for the new Pediatrics Unit, Rogue Credit Union’s legacy of support will be permanently recognized within the walls of this innovative facility.

“Rogue Credit Union, like Asante, was established in Medford in the 1950s by a small group of grassroots leaders,” remarked Roy Vinyard, recent interim president and CEO of Asante. “Our organizations have grown side by side, with the highest good of the community in mind. That makes this gift even more meaningful – we are honored to receive this landmark commitment to help care for our youngest patients and their families.”

The impact of Rogue Credit Union’s contribution extends far beyond financial support. Andrea Reeder, senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer at Asante, emphasized, “Rogue Credit Union’s gift not only demonstrates the organization’s ongoing pledge to invest locally but also their instrumental role in reshaping healthcare for children and families across Southern Oregon and Northern California. Asante is proud to permanently recognize Rogue Credit Union’s generosity in the Pediatrics Unit.”

The Pediatrics Unit, located on the sixth floor of the Olsrud Family Women’s and Children’s Hospital at Asante Rogue Regional, is designed with a focus on the comfort, care, and privacy of young patients. Comprising 16 pediatric inpatient rooms, each room is a single private oasis equipped with a private bathroom and boasts vast views of the city lights and the Rogue Valley overall. Notably, a Child Life active room will provide a playful sanctuary within the hospital environment, while a Child Life quiet room will serve as a haven for art and reading, enriching the hospital experience for young patients. On the same floor, a dedicated outpatient infusion clinic will cater to children battling cancer and other serious illnesses.

Matt Stephenson, president and CEO of Rogue Credit Union, expressed the institution’s excitement about this transformative partnership, saying, “We’re incredibly excited about this next step in our partnership with Asante. We extend our thanks to our loyal members, whose unwavering support makes this partnership possible. Rogue Credit Union was founded by a group of educators who believed in the power of people helping people, and this donation is made in the same spirit. As a community, we’re stronger together.”

Rogue Credit Union’s dedication to children’s healthcare extends beyond this large donation. They regularly host campaigns, such as the ongoing “Give+Save” initiative, running until October 21, 2023. “Give+Save” invites credit union members to donate $10 or more to the Credit Union for Kids program, with the added benefit of transferring up to $500 into a high-yield ownership account. All funds raised during this campaign directly benefit local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, including Asante Rogue Regional.

The Olsrud Family Women’s and Children’s Hospital at Asante Rogue Regional is slated to open its doors in February 2024 and forms a pivotal part of Asante’s capital expansion campaign known as AsanteForward. Emphasizing the importance of continued support for these programs, Andrea Reeder added, “This pavilion and all the other initiatives within AsanteForward are just the beginning. Continued support of these programs is necessary to sustain the highest level of care for patients in our region. We must keep going.”
