At approximately 7:33a yesterday, the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle collision that resulted in the loss of a life. The crash took place on OR62 near mile 7 in the White City area.

Preliminary findings from the investigation reveal that a Yamaha motorcycle, operated by Jamie Davenport, a 38-year-old resident of Shady Cove, was traveling southbound. Davenport was attempting to make a left turn onto Avenue H, heading east. Simultaneously, a Toyota Highlander, driven by Vickie Kuras, a 65-year-old resident of Medford, was northbound, proceeding through a green traffic light.

Investigators say the Yamaha motorcycle made a left turn directly into the path of the oncoming Toyota Highlander. Despite the best efforts of the Toyota driver, a collision became inevitable, resulting in the impact.

Jamie Davenport, the operator of the Yamaha motorcycle, suffered critical injuries in the collision. Immediate medical attention was provided, and Davenport was rushed to a local hospital. However, despite all efforts, Davenport’s injuries proved fatal, and the individual was pronounced deceased.

Vickie Kuras, the driver of the Toyota Highlander, was not injured in the crash.

The crash caused significant disruption to traffic on OR62, with the highway affected for approximately two hours as authorities conducted their on-scene investigation.

The Oregon State Police received assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) in managing the aftermath of this tragic incident.
