NE Medford is about to see a transformation as a portion of the former Cedar Links Golf Course becomes the site of Cedar Commons, a unique mixed-use development that aims to be a valuable community asset. In contrast to the surrounding single-family homes and limited commercial spaces, developers say they plan on Cedar Commons bridging the gap by providing a place where residents can come together.
Architecturally blending with the neighboring residential community, Cedar Commons comprises five buildings along adjacent street frontages, incorporating active walking pathways and concealed internal parking. Abundant landscaping throughout the site creates shared outdoor community areas, complemented by a central water feature at the main entrance. Covered parking, electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle parking, and a well-appointed community center with access to the pool and hot tub further enhance the development’s appeal.
Cedar Commons also introduces ground floor commercial spaces along Cedar Links Drive and Farmington Avenue frontages. A community-oriented food court, featuring up to eight small-scale restaurants and a central bar & taproom, serves as a gathering spot. Indoor and outdoor dining spaces, including a park-like area with a water feature, are thoughtfully designed to encourage interactions among residents and visitors alike.
Developers say the residential units within Cedar Commons offer spacious and modern living spaces, going beyond the standard amenities found in comparable developments. With well-designed kitchens, in-unit washers and dryers, common Wi-Fi, ample storage, and private outdoor decks, residents can experience comfortable living.
The one-bedroom units range from 663 to 884 square feet, while two-bedroom/two-bath units range from 862 to 1,228 square feet. Special large units located above the shared Community Room overlooking the pool offer unique features like gas fireplaces, private entrances, and larger decks. Each building houses both one- and two-bedroom floorplans, including corner units with increased natural light and upper-level vaulted units.
The open floor plans feature kitchens with solid-surface countertops and peninsula configurations, inviting residents to interact seamlessly with the living spaces. Moreover, private storage rooms are available on each deck or patio, providing convenience and additional space.
With amenities like Cedar Links Park, a playground, dog park, and cycling and walking pathways nearby, Cedar Commons embraces its role as a central hub for the northeast Medford community.
