Flat Fire Grows to Over 5400 Acres as New Incident Team Takes Charge

In a bid to contain the raging Flat Fire, Northwest Team 6, comprising highly skilled firefighters, assumed control of the incident upon their arrival yesterday evening (July 16, 2023). With their expertise and dedication, they are now spearheading the management of the fire.

The fire has engulfed thousands of acres quickly, scorching an area spanning 5,477 acres. To combat this blaze, a total of 332 personnel have been mobilized to the scene. This includes 10 crews, 7 helicopters, 19 engines, and the support of 1 heavy equipment unit.

The combined efforts of the firefighting teams, aerial support, and ground resources aim to bring the Flat Fire under control swiftly and effectively.

A number of structures remain threatened as the area around the fire will also be under a Red Flag Warning beginning today. The unofficial estimated cost of this fire has reached $15,000,000 according to Wildfire Aware.
