Child Dies After Being Ejected During Crash South of Ashland

On Sunday, July 2, at approximately 5:00 A.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Interstate 5, near milepost 6, in Jackson County.

The preliminary investigation indicated a GMC Envoy, operated by Yolanda Flores (41) of Centralia (WA), was northbound when it took the milepost 6 exit too fast, exited the roadway and rolled multiple times.

A juvenile passenger, who was reportedly unrestrained, was ejected from the vehicle during the roll-over and was declared deceased at the scene.

The operator (Flores) and another passenger, Andres Cruz (22) of Centralia (WA), suffered minor injuries.

The roadway remained open during the investigation.  The incident is under investigation.
