In a joint operation on June 21, 2023, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) collaborated with Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) and Josephine County Public Health & Building Safety to execute a search warrant in the 3000 block of Waldo Road. The operation targeted an illegal marijuana grow site, resulting in the arrest of Andres Guizar Contreras, a 38-year-old resident.
During the execution of the warrant, law enforcement officers discovered and seized over 5,900 marijuana plants, along with 15 pounds of processed marijuana. The seized contraband was subsequently destroyed in accordance with legal protocols. Additionally, authorities confiscated several firearms found on the property.
Apart from the illicit marijuana operation, the property was found to be in violation of multiple water and solid waste codes, which could lead to the forfeiture of the property under criminal law.
Andres Guizar Contreras was apprehended at the scene and has been lodged at the Josephine County Jail. He faces charges of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Manufacturing of Marijuana, and Unlawful Appropriation of Water.
Due to the ongoing investigation, no further details have been released at this time. Authorities are committed to taking decisive action against illegal drug activities to maintain public safety and uphold the law. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities related to drug manufacturing or distribution to local law enforcement agencies, who remain dedicated to combating such illegal operations in our community.

A criminal complaint is only an accusation of a crime, and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
