ODF reports this morning that they are responding to a new wildfire near OR140 at mile-marker 13.
Officials say the incident is approximately 1 acre in size and burning slowly on the side of the highway.
1:30p Update: Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded to assist Oregon Department of Forestry firefighters and Oregon State Police this afternoon on a fire alongside Highway 140 near mile marker 13 northwest of Lakecreek. As of 10:45 a.m., firefighters had nearly extinguished the one-acre fire and are currently mopping up.
Please be aware of firefighters working near the roadway and slow down when driving by. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
