This is an update to our previous coverage of the incident.
Yesterday night, Jackson County Fire District #1 responded to what initially came in as a report of a vehicle fire at 10:43PM.
Crews arrived on scene to find an active car fire as well as approximately 3/4 acre grass fire. Due to the size, intensity, and close proximity to multiple structures, a 2nd alarm was requested.

Crews on scene were able to protect the nearby structures. The spread of the fire was limited thanks to a quick fire attack. Crews had limited access to the fire due to a live downed power line, which was shut off by PP&L allowing firefighters to access all areas of the fire area.
After the fire was knocked down, crews mopped up the scene to ensure no hotspots were present. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Jackson County Fire District #1 was assisted on scene by Evans Valley Fire District #6, Fire District 3, Grants Pass Firefighters, and Rural Metro Fire – Josephine County.
Jackson County Fire District #1 would like to remind everyone that even though we are not actively in fire season, to practice strong fire safety practices as well as have a plan if you or a loved one needs to evacuate.
