On Friday, May 12, Oregon State Police (OSP) responded to 610 N Main Street in Phoenix, for a homicide investigation.
The suspect, 28 year old Matthew Winder is in custody and lodged on Murder 2 charges for killing his mother, 59 year old Cheryl Sellers.
The Major Assault & Death Investigation Unit (MADIU) was activated to assist with the incident. MADIU consists of personnel from OSP, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Medford Police Department, Jackson County District Attorney’s Office and the OSP Crime Lab.
No additional information was released by authorities at this time.
A criminal complaint is only an accusation of a crime, and a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
