Serious Motorcycle Crash Impacting N.Phoenix Rd Area Traffic

This is a developing incident. Medford Alert will continue to monitor and update as new information becomes available.

At approximately 11:23a today, multiple Oregon State Police (OSP), Phoenix Police (PPD), Jackson County Fire District 5 (JCFD5), and Mercy Flight (MFI) ambulance units were dispatched to N.Phoenix Rd near E.Boltz Rd for a serious vehicle crash.

Upon first arrival, a law enforcement unit reported to dispatch, that medical was indeed needed for a motorcycle rider with serious injuries.

Radio traffic indicated that life-saving measures, such as CPR, were being conducted on the subject for an extended time.

The motorcycle rider has since been pronounced dead by authorities. At least one other vehicle is believed to have been involved at this time. The Jackson County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team has been activated to investigate this crash. However, it is believed to be an OSP case.

ODOT stated the following: N. Phoenix Rd near I-5 Exit 24: North Phoenix Road is closed between OR-99 and Luman Road due to a crash. Motorists should expect a lengthy closure and use alternate routes. The closure does not affect access to the Shoppes at Exit 24 from Interstate 5.

Afternoon Update: All roads are now open.
