Yesterday at 6:20 pm, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 300 Block of McMullen Creek Road. Upon arrival, Deputies located a white 2012 Volvo station wagon off the roadway and crashed into a tree.
The driver and only occupant, Derick L. Williams, was found deceased in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Evidence at the scene indicates the vehicle was traveling north on McMullen Creek at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The roadway was also wet from the recent rain.
Illinois Valley Fire District and American Medical Response assisted at the scene.
Next of kin has been notified. There is no further information at this time.
