$10K Worth of Gear Stolen From Oregon Firefighting Vehicle

A Portland Fire Bureau vehicle was broken into and firefighter protective equipment was stolen. The incident happened in the area SE Division and SE 45th Ave between the hours of 6:30pm and 7:30 this morning.

The vehicle, a 2013 GMC Yukon, is used by a Portland Fire Battalion Chief and contained personal protective gear, medical equipment and other lifesaving tools.

During the night, a thief broke the rear window and stole a turnout jacket and a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), which is the backpack style air pack that firefighters wear into hazardous environments. The total value of these two items is approximately $10,000.

Police have not arrested anyone at this time in connection with the theft, and are asking the public for assistance in locating the stolen items.
