On Tuesday, March 7th, Ashland Parks and Recreation will manage two controlled burns for community wildfire safety. One will be in Hald-Strawberry Park and another along the Lithia Park hillside east of Ashland Creek and just below Glenview Drive.
Crews will burn piles on city forest lands on Lithia hillside east of Ashland Creek. The location is in town and close to trails near upper Lithia Park. Dead tree cutting and pile burning are planned for Hald-Strawberry Park
Burn operations for Lithia hillside will begin at 9:00 am and run until approximately noon. Hald-Strawberry operations will begin at 8:30 am and continue until 4:30 pm.
Lithia Hillside Trails east of Ashland Creek, South Pioneer St, Glenview Drive, Fork St, and Ridge Road could be smoky. Please avoid the area if smoke sensitive. Residents in the area should close windows and run HEPA air purifiers as needed.
Hald-Strawberry Park will have periodic smoke and tree falling work could briefly close trails throughout the day. Please avoid the area and use alternative trails if possible.
