Winter Storm Watch Active Saturday Night Into Sunday

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON ABOVE 2500 FEET

  • WHAT…Heavy snow possible above 2500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
  • WHERE…Douglas and Jackson County Foothills, the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, and eastern Curry County. This includes Toketee Falls and Butte Falls. This includes Highway 138 east of Steamboat, and portions of Highway 140, 62, and 227.
  • WHEN…From late Saturday night through Sunday afternoon.
  • IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snow levels could drop as low as 1,500 feet through this time frame, bringing a chance for snow at lower elevations.
  • Stock emergency kit with tire chains, flashlight, batteries, blankets, food, water, and medications.
  • The safest place during a winter storm is indoors.
  • Plan now to avoid traveling during the storm.
