All lanes of Interstate 5 southbound remain closed this morning from Exit 14 in Ashland to the California border due to severe winter weather conditions in northern California.
All lanes of I-5 northbound in California are also closed at Redding to the Oregon border.


Travelers should expect a long closure today, according to ODOT. Local detour routes are limited; OR 66 and OR 273 (Old Siskiyou Hwy) are both closed.
Trucks are instructed to keep Ashland St. clear if waiting out closure, and do not attempt a detour using Dead Indian Memorial Rd.
2:33p UPDATE: Interstate 5: I-5 southbound remains closed at Exit 14 in Ashland while Caltrans crews work to clear snow and ice from I-5 in northern California. Caltrans will update ODOT on I-5 conditions this evening. There is heavy traffic near Exit 14 and around Ashland; avoid the area and delay your trip until I-5 reopens. Ashland residents: use Exit 19 to avoid Exit 14 congestion. Commercial trucks: OR 66, OR 273, and Dead Indian Memorial Rd. are not viable detours.
6:18p UPDATE: All lanes of Interstate 5 are open at Exit 14 in Ashland following an earlier closure. Expect some delays in the area as queued traffic begins moving south. Currently there are no chain restrictions for the I-5 Siskiyou Summit, however conditions can change quickly
