Two Customers Detain Central Point Suspect After Robbery Attempt

Yesterday at approximately 5: 25 pm, Central Point Police responded to the Purple Parrot at 227 E. Pine Street for a reported robbery.

It was determined that 30 year old, Michael McEwen, entered the business and demanded money.

When the employee refused, McEwen walked behind the front counter with his hand in his coat pocket as if he were pointing a gun at her.

McEwen was subsequently detained by two customers until officers arrived on scene where he was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was lodged at the Jackson County Jail on charges of Robbery 2, Disorderly Conduct 2 and Menacing.

All suspects are considered innocent until any/all charges are proven true against them in a court of law.
