Vehicle Fire Impacts Afternoon Foothill Rd Commuters

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a vehicle fire that closed a portion of Foothill Road this afternoon.

Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) 911 Dispatch received multiple calls from passing drivers that spotted flames shooting from the vehicle while driving southbound on Foothill Rd. at 2:45 p.m.

The uninjured driver escaped the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames. Medford Fire Department and Jackson County Fire District 3 responded to put out the fire.

Foothill Road was closed for approximately 30 minutes from Corey Rd. to Vilas Rd during the incident.

At this time, there is no stated cause of the fire. Thankfully, there was no fire spread to surrounding vegetation.
