Man Arrested After Fleeing Police During Standoff in SW Medford

Earlier this evening at 5:26 PM, officers with the Medford Police Department were dispatched to a domestic dispute in the 1600 block of S Ivy Cir.

The complainant reported her adult son arrived at her home, began to argue with her and threatened to harm her. During the argument the male stated he had a firearm, and he was going to use it. The complainant called the police and left her residence.

Officers arrived on scene and set up a perimeter. A member of our Crisis Negotiation Team was on scene and began talking with the male.

At 7:04 PM the male exited the residence attempting to flee the area. Officers located him in the back yard and took him into custody.

The suspect is identified as 27 year old, Edward Valdez.

Valdez was lodged at the Jackson County Jail on the following charges:

  • Menacing
  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

All suspects are considered innocent until any/all charges are proven true against them in a court of law.
